Requirements and Responsibilities

Systems Architecture Director directs the architectural design, development, and deployment of an infrastructure to support specific IT applications and platforms. Leads the strategy, management, and implementation of the systems architecture function. Being a Systems Architecture Director ensures that systems are designed to consider functional requirements, scalability, and security. Evaluates system solutions based on user needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms. Additionally, Systems Architecture Director identifies and researches potential technology products to enhance solution delivery. Participates in creating strategies and policies to meet overall business goals. Oversees implementation of architecture system and advises adjustments to top management. May require a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Systems Architecture Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Systems Architecture Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
