Telecommunications Technician I installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains telecommunications equipment. Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service. Being a Telecommunications Technician I determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits. May require an associate degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician I typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Telecommunications Technician I may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.
