Utility Locator II is responsible for locating underground utility lines like gas pipes, water mains, and electric cables. Conducts surveys, analyzes utility maps, and uses specialized equipment like electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and acoustic gear to trace buried lines. Being a Utility Locator II identifies and marks locations using flags, paint, or other indicators. Documents and/or diagrams location information. Additionally, Utility Locator II requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid driver's license. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Utility Locator II works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Utility Locator II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
