Salary.com Compensation and Pay Equity Law Review

Welcome to Salary.com's Compensation and Pay Equity Law Review.

Our editor, employment lawyer Heather Bussing, is tracking legislation, cases, and analysis to give you the latest critical HR topics. She and Kent Plunkett, CEO of Salary.com, also have a new book out on Pay Equity, Get Pay Right: How to Achieve Pay Equity that Works!

This week we're asking these questions and even answering some of them:

  • What do I need to know about the different types of workplace immigration enforcement actions?
  • How do I investigate of a discrimination or harassment claim?
  • How do I tell how AI is affecting employment decisions?
  • What should we do to prepare for a visit from ICE?
  • What's the difference between DEI and discrimination?

This is an extraordinary resource for employers dealing with any type of workplace immigration enforcement. And your strategy and approaches may be different depending on what type of enforcement you have.

The big issue I run into often when investigating a complaint is fear of retaliation by employees. Sometimes, the only way to handle that is to offer them confidentiality. But that can also make it difficult to write a compelling report, particularly when I determine that there has been discrimination or harassment.
