Requirements and Responsibilities

Billing Manager manages an organization's billing department to facilitate timely, accurate, and efficient billing operations. Coordinates and manages the entire billing process including invoicing, collecting, account reconciliation, and reporting. Being a Billing Manager ensures billing practices comply with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Evaluates overdue or unpaid accounts and recommends steps or actions to resolve delinquency. Additionally, Billing Manager compiles billing data and analysis to support the development of financial statements or projections. Ensures invoices reflect negotiated payment terms and conditions and comply with financial policies, standards, and regulations. Tracks billing disputes to ensure adequate resolution. Reviews payment terms and conditions to evaluate risk, drive sales, and ensure alignment with business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Billing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Billing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
