Requirements and Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Supervisor oversees a team of mechanical engineers that design, analyze, and maintain mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Being a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor oversees prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and reviews data and analysis to develop improvements. Implements departmental policies and procedures to delegate workflow and ensure projects are completed on time and within required specifications and quality standards. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Supervisor leads the research and development of innovative or new technologies to improve existing products or processes. Ensures projects follow organizational best practices for design, prototyping, and testing. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
