Tax Director is responsible for an organization's tax policies and objectives. Directs and leads a team responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, statements, and other reports at required intervals. Being a Tax Director monitors reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes. Ensures accuracy of tax returns and works to minimize the organization's tax obligations. Additionally, Tax Director monitors changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and updates policies and procedures as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline. Typically reports to senior management. The Tax Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Tax Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
