The Gerontologist ensures proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Specializes in dealing with illness and other complications due to the aging process in the elderly. Being a Gerontologist requests necessary tests, follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Treats disorders that arise due to aging such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. In addition, Gerontologist requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. May report to a medical director.
