Job Description for Mechanical Product Engineer I

Mechanical Product Engineer I designs, develops, and enhances mechanical industrial products, components, and systems to meet required specifications and standards. Evaluates and analyzes product requirements, objectives, and constraints and develops technical and functional specifications for mechanical products. Being a Mechanical Product Engineer I identifies appropriate materials and processes to develop effective solutions that meet the outlined specifications and manufacturing cost requirements. Prepares technical documents detailing designs, instructions, and specifications. Additionally, Mechanical Product Engineer I utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop mechanical manufacturing parts or components and communicate conceptual designs to stakeholders. Assists with the entire production process from fabrication, modification, and assembly. Conducts simulations and prototype testing to evaluate mechanical product performance, reliability, and safety and collects and analyzes data for improvements. Routinely tests mechanical systems and equipment that are crucial to business operations or industrial processes to ensure safe, reliable, and optimal functionality. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Product Engineer I work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
