Job Description

Medical Lab Technician - Certified performs manual and automated routine medical lab tests such as urinalyses and blood counts. Prepares specimens for microscope examination. Being a Medical Lab Technician - Certified operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Conducts only waived and moderate level testing as classified by CLIA. Additionally, Medical Lab Technician - Certified typically requires an associate degree in lab science. Typically reports to a Medical Technologist. Requires certification by ASCP or AMT. Requires passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Medical Lab Technician - Certified's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
