Completing an accredited program can lead to ARRT certification, which grants you a Registered Technologist (RT) credential. While not always necessary to start working, it can be advantageous when job hunting, as many employers prefer it and some states require it for licensure. The program can last from a few months to four years, depending on the level of education you seek. After graduation, passing a final exam is necessary for certification. To renew your certification after two years, you can either complete 24 hours of continuing education or pass an examination.
