The number of locations has steadily increased from 34,480 in 2012 to 40,031 in 2021, with 833 new locations opening in 2020-2021. In the U.S., however, the number of McDonald‘s restaurants has decreased from 14,339 in 2014 to 13,673 in 2020, with California and Texas each accounting for 8% of the total U.S. locations.
