Being an ETL (Executive Team Leader) at Target can indeed be challenging due to the extensive expectations placed on leaders within the organization. ETLs are required to adopt a global perspective, which can often detract from their ability to focus on specific areas of responsibility and drive results effectively. This broad scope of responsibility can lead to time constraints, making it difficult to delve deeply into the metrics and outcomes that matter most to their departments. Additionally, many new ETLs find that the training program does not adequately equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles from the very first day. This lack of preparation can create a steep learning curve, as they must quickly adapt to the demands of the position while also managing their teams and meeting performance goals. Overall, the combination of high expectations and insufficient training can make the role of an ETL at Target quite demanding.
