The term 'prompt engineering' may indeed be perceived as overhyped, as it encapsulates a concept that many people intuitively grasp. At its core, prompt engineering refers to the art of crafting effective prompts to elicit desired responses from AI models. While the term itself sounds complex and technical, the underlying skill is something that individuals often engage in without realizing it. For instance, when we ask questions or give instructions to AI systems, we are essentially employing prompt engineering techniques. However, the growing interest in this field has led to an exaggerated emphasis on its importance, overshadowing the fact that effective communication with AI is a skill that can be developed through practice and experience. Thus, while prompt engineering is a valuable skill, it may not warrant the level of hype it currently receives, as it is fundamentally rooted in our natural ability to communicate and convey our intentions clearly.
