Is the path to becoming a radiation therapist difficult?

Becoming a radiation therapist is not a difficult process, taking between two and four years to obtain the necessary degree. While a 12-month certificate program is technically sufficient, most employers prefer candidates with at least an associate‘s degree. Bachelor‘s degrees are also becoming more common in the field. In addition to completing a program, licensure and certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists are typically required. Radiation therapists are an essential part of the healthcare team, responsible for administering radiation and planning treatment for patients. Some employers may require additional education and training for this role.
