A consultant is an expert in a particular field who provides professional advice to individuals, businesses, and corporations, focusing on areas such as operations, profitability, structure, strategy, and management. On the other hand, a contractor is a professional with specific skills hired to perform a particular task, such as construction, graphic design, or writing. The main difference between the two is that a consultant provides expert advice without typically implementing the advice, while a contractor is hired specifically to perform a certain task. Other differences include consultants being hired to solve specific problems and demonstrating role ownership, while contractors are hired for short-term engagements and do not have to acclimate to a company‘s culture.
