In contrast, an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is tasked with the day-to-day security management of a specific information system, including implementing security measures, monitoring system security, and ensuring compliance with policies. Typically, there is one primary ISSO assigned to a system, but multiple Alternate ISSOs may be designated to provide support or assume responsibilities when needed. While the ISSO manages ongoing security operations, the SCA conducts periodic assessments to validate the security posture of the system, making their roles complementary but distinct in focus and responsibility.
