What steps are needed to become a prosthetist?

Prosthetists are healthcare professionals who design, fit, and fabricate custom prosthetic limbs and devices for patients who have lost limbs or have limb abnormalities. They work closely with patients to assess their needs and goals, and then create and adjust prosthetic devices to meet their individual requirements. To become a prosthetist, you will need to complete a bachelor‘s degree in a related field, such as biology, kinesiology, or engineering, and then obtain a master‘s degree in prosthetics and orthotics. You will also need to complete a residency program and obtain certification and licensure to practice.
