Typically, team truck drivers tend to earn more than solo drivers due to their ability to cover more miles in a shorter period, which results in higher overall income. Since team drivers operate two drivers on the same truck, they can often run continuously, sometimes up to 600-700 miles per day, compared to solo drivers who are limited by hours-of-service regulations. This increased mileage allows team drivers to maximize their earnings, especially when hauling high-demand freight such as perishable goods or time-sensitive shipments. While there are exceptions where experienced solo drivers with specialized routes may earn comparable or higher wages, generally, the high-mileage capacity of team driving makes it a more lucrative option for many professional truck drivers.
