Astronomers have the option to work in a variety of settings, including national observatories, government-funded labs, aerospace firms, planetariums, science museums, and academia. While they may spend some time in observatories using telescopes, it is more common to find them conducting online research from behind a desk. In academia, they may also teach students in a collegiate setting.
