Who are linguists?

Linguists study and analyze the workings of language, focusing on areas such as phonetics, syntax, and semantics. They may research the origins and evolution of languages, examine dialectal differences, and document little-known or endangered languages. While many linguists are multilingual, they do not necessarily need to speak the languages they study. Daily tasks may include discovering phonetic patterns, finding similar words and expressions between languages, and conducting experiments with speakers of the same language.
