The Expert Materials Engineer applies knowledge of material science to recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to attain design objectives in the most economical manner possible. Plans for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. Being an Expert Materials Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Reviews blueprints and specifications to determine the appropriate materials needed to achieve successful completion of initiatives. In addition, Expert Materials Engineer typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working as an Expert Materials Engineer typically requires 10+ years of related experience. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Works autonomously.
