The Trainee Lineman performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Being an Trainee Lineman follows all safety regulations and procedures. Installs wire and cable. In addition, Trainee Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Apprentice is generally part of a formal or informal on-the-job training program. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being an Trainee Lineman works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
