Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete spots Sets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects. (CJP) is a contract publisher for the National Defense Transportation Association since 1992 and seeks a talented editor that will manage all editorial aspects of the Defense Transporation Journal (DTJ) and the Source newsletter. The desired candidate must have strong writing and editing skills that can be demonstrated through work samples. The candidate should have a bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications or another discipline that demonstrates academic success working with the written word. Candidates must be US citizens and should have a minimum of 3 years work experience in the publications field. Knowledge of defense transporation logistics and military and government passenger travel, while not required, would be a plus.
