How to Become an Instructor - Electrical Engineering

Full-time position, responsible for teaching in the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Electrical Engineering Technology program in the Division.

Duties include teaching and advising AAS degree and certificate students in the Electrical Engineering Technology program.

Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field such as, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Automation/Mechatronics required.

Hands on industrial work experience preferred with electronic and electrical equipment.

In partnership with the University of Colorado’s flagship campus, the CMU Engineering program is substantially expanding accredited Bachelor’s degree instruction on Colorado’s Western slope to include Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Computer engineering.

To qualify for an Electrical Engineer (Instructor) you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Teaching experience above the High School level in the Electrical Engineering specialty field of Electrical Power or professional level experience in the Maritime/Power Plant Industry.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated, experienced professional who has the academic credentials and background in Electrical Engineering specialty field or Electrical Power to teach college age students.  Well qualified candidates must be highly motivated and experienced professionals possessing integrity, stamina, and ingenuity, and be capable of adjusting to various work environments, physical demands, and schedules.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide training in the latest Electrical and Renewable Energy Technology, Electrical and Electronic System….

Strong knowledge of and experience working with electrical T&D systems, Industrial / Commercial power systems, rotating machines, protection and control systems, lighting systems, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and power systems simulation programs.

A good understanding of the electrical industry to include the following.

5 years experience in manufacturing in electrical maintenance, instrumentation, or motor control (primary) AND OSHA 10 hour certificate.

Electrical backgrounds & electrical experience is highly desired.
