Financial Accountant

As the Financial Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance Manager and the Senior Financial Accountant across all aspects of financial accounting for Australia & New Zealand (ANZ).

Your responsibilities will include ensuring accurate monthly and annual reporting to key stakeholders, including the corporate office, local directors, and the ATO.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time, 60% capacity (3 days p/week)

Monthly Accounting

• Complete and lodge the monthly BAS calculation, including analytical review for both Australia and New Zealand
• Calculate and prepare monthly Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) entries and process associated journals for Australia and New Zealand
• Manage the BCG School Scholarship Program (e.g. MBA). This involves maintaining tracking spreadsheets, addressing queries, approving and processing monthly reimbursements, and completing monthly reconciliation and associated journals with a thorough understanding of FBT implications in Australia
• Complete and submit quarterly New Zealand FBT return to Inland Revenue
• Liaise directly with the local Mobility team to prepare intercompany invoices and statutory reporting
• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts for both Australia and New Zealand to determine funding requirements
• Assist the Senior Financial Accountant with month-end activities, including posting monthly journals (e.g., accruals, intercompany allocations) and completing associated balance sheet reconciliations
• Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable function, including assisting with the setup of monthly UBER and AMEX statements
• Prepare and lodge quarterly surveys for the Australian Bureau of Statistics
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of local expense budget

Annual Accounting

• Prepare necessary reconciliations for year-end audit and address all financial accounting-related queries from auditors
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements
• Assist and support the Finance Manager with the preparation of tax entries

You'll bring

• Minimum 3 years of accounting or comparable experience
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
• CA in progress or completed
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organization and work management
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong drive for self-directed learning and continuous improvement
• Good knowledge of accounting principles including strong working knowledge of DR’s and CR’s and IFRS
• Detail-oriented with a genuine passion for accounting
