About the role
The Head of Finance, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Association and its related entities. This position is responsible for leading the finance team to ensure best practices in finance, accounting, payroll, compliance, governance, risk management, and internal controls. Given our small association, we need someone who is not only a strong leader but also hands-on, actively managing and performing day-to-day financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership: Take a hands-on approach to drive the finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reports and analyses. Demonstrate a willingness to cover for team members and step in to assist when required. This role requires diving into the nitty-gritty details to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Strategic Direction: Lead and actively engage in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with a forward-thinking mindset.
Transformation Projects: Lead transformation projects to improve financial operations and systems, boosting efficiency and innovation.
Regulatory Excellence: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and uphold the highest financial standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders across the business to provide insightful financial advice and support decision-making.
Team Management: Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Key Requirements:
Leadership Excellence: Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor teams with diverse skills and backgrounds, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
Effective Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for clear understanding.
Project Management: Extensive experience in managing comprehensive transformation or financial projects, including process enhancements, system integrations, and change management.
Proactive Approach: Actively plan and identify potential issues before they arise, ensuring smooth operations.
Hands-On Involvement: Willingness to dive into the detailed aspects of tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and fostering relationships across all business levels.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a comparable role within the local industry.
Educational Credentials: CPA/CA certification or equivalent, along with a relevant Bachelor’s degree.
