About The Role

The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate with the Operations & Assessments team to gather requirements and leverage Microsoft business intelligence tools to create efficient, sustainable reporting solutions. They will work closely with stakeholders to optimize the value of delivered products and play a key role in modernizing Engineers Australia's digital capabilities, particularly its data and analytics platform. The role also involves driving continuous improvement within the Data, Analytics, and Insights team. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract.

In This Role You Will

  • Partner with Operations and & Assessment teams to deliver on operational reporting requirements, including establishing a self-service reporting capability, and creating dashboards as required.
  • Create visually compelling and interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI, adhering to best practices for data visualisation.
  • Assist in the development of data archiving solutions and accessibility tools during the Digital Transformation program.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing on Power BI solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, and adherence to business requirements.
  • Identify and resolving issues related to Power BI reports, dashboards, and data connectivity. Provide support for end-users as needed.
  • Respond promptly to ad hoc requests for data analysis and reporting, providing timely and accurate insights as needed by the business.
  • Keep abreast of the latest features and updates in Power BI and assessing their applicability to improve existing solutions.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders and business leaders across EA, including at the Executive level, to gather and analyse business requirements for reporting and analytics.
  • Encourage collaboration and best-practice sharing to empower users to leverage Power BI effectively.
  • Bridge the technical and operational divide within EA, including providing recommendations on improving data quality and data management practices
  • Foster a community of power users by actively engaging and sharing knowledge.
  • Act as an enthusiastic coach and mentor on all matters related to the management and utilisation of information across the business.

Here’s What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and interpret complex datasets from various source systems, extracting meaningful insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Data modelling proficiency, with an advanced understanding of data modelling concepts, including star schema and snowflake schema, with experience in building and optimizing data models for enhanced usability and performance.
  • Strong skills in designing effective Power BI dashboards that convey actionable insights, contributing to a user-friendly and impactful data visualization strategy. An intermediate to advanced knowledge of DAX and Power Query would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from relational databases, and ideally a working knowledge of Azure Databricks.
  • Proven experience in gathering and documenting data and reporting requirements from stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating a clear understanding of data insights and implications.
  • Experience working in an operation reporting environment, including developing and monitoring key performance indicators, conducting data analysis, and providing insights and recommendations to improve contract efficiency and effectiveness.
