Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Director - OLE to lead the delivery of overhead line equipment (OLE) systems on major rail infrastructure projects. Based in Brisbane, you will join a dynamic consultancy team, providing strategic technical leadership and ensuring the successful delivery of OLE design and engineering services across high-profile rail projects. Your expertise will guide our engineering teams in delivering safe, innovative, and efficient OLE systems that meet the stringent requirements of the rail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, integration, and delivery of Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) systems for rail infrastructure projects.
Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality OLE design and technical outcomes that align with project objectives, client requirements, and industry standards.
Oversee the development of technical solutions, feasibility studies, and detailed design documentation for OLE systems.
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards.
Mentor and support junior engineers and other technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Ensure compliance with relevant rail industry standards, Australian regulations, and health and safety requirements.
Participate in business development, contributing to proposals, tenders, and client presentations, showcasing the consultancy’s OLE expertise.
Identify and mitigate risks and ensure proactive management of technical and commercial challenges.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments and innovations in OLE systems, rail electrification, and associated technologies.
Key Requirements:
Rail Consultancy Background
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Extensive experience (10 years) in the design, engineering, and delivery of OLE systems on major rail projects, including high-voltage electrification.
Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex OLE projects.
Strong understanding of the Australian rail industry, standards, and regulatory frameworks, with prior experience working on rail projects in Australia preferred.
Excellent knowledge of railway systems integration, particularly the interface between OLE and track, signalling, and civil structures.
Strong commercial acumen, with experience in managing budgets, resources, and project timelines.
Proven ability to engage with clients, stakeholders, and contractors, and maintain excellent working relationships.
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition is desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
