Overview

The Workday Functional Consultant plays a critical role in the successful implementation and ongoing support of Workday software within the organization. As a specialist in Workday's suite of applications, the consultant provides expertise in functional and technical areas, ensuring that the system meets business requirements and objectives. They collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver solutions that optimize Workday functionality.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in all phases of the Workday implementation lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-deployment support
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document functional requirements, and translate them into system configurations
  • Configure Workday HCM, Payroll, and Financial systems to support business processes and data integration
  • Design and develop custom reports, calculated fields, and integrations to meet business needs
  • Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving technical and functional issues
  • Conduct system testing and support user acceptance testing activities
  • Develop end-user documentation and conduct user training sessions
  • Stay abreast of Workday updates, new features, and best practices to continuously improve system functionality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of Workday with other systems
  • Participate in ongoing system maintenance, enhancements, and optimization activities
  • Provide functional support and troubleshooting for end users
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, methodologies, and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of additional Workday modules or functionality to meet evolving business needs
  • Participate in project planning, estimation, and resource management activities
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced system functionality

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • 4 years of hands-on experience with Workday HCM (Human Capital Management) implementation, configuration, and support
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one or more Workday modules such as HCM, Payroll, Financial Management, or Integrations
  • Strong understanding of Workday security, business processes, and reporting
  • Experience in conducting requirements gathering, business analysis, and translating business needs into system requirements
  • Proven ability to design and configure Workday to meet complex business requirements
  • Proficient in developing, testing, and deploying Workday integrations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Workday certification(s) is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and learning
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in leading and supporting change management activities related to Workday
  • Knowledge of HR and Finance business processes is preferred
