An exciting full-time opportunity has become available for a Residential Life Coordinator, reporting to the Head of Brand, Sales & Marketing.

The Residential Life Coordinator is responsible for administering and coordinating the operation of the student residential experience across the residential buildings throughout Brisbane. The person in this role will ensure a positive, healthy, and safe living/learning environment for students. Working closely with the Operations and Marketing teams. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain an environment conducive to social and community growth. Fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive community for all residents.  

This position's responsibilities include ongoing residential life activities, social media, student welfare, student development activities, and Resident Assistant staff supervision.

 

Key focus areas:

  • Contribute to the development of a positive/supportive culture within Student One, build its appeal in the marketplace for future and present residents
  • Develop, implement, and manage events and activities as per the elements of the Residential Life and Wellbeing Program
  • Assist in the creation, development, and implementation of a diverse and holistic calendar of events, balancing core areas of support and resident interest
  • Assist to recruit, train, and mentor a team of Residential Assistants (RAs)
  • Provide exceptional service and build positive relationships with residents and all key stakeholders
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with University, VET, and ELICOS support services to ensure the wellbeing of students
  • Assist with the development of the strategic direction relating to all aspects of residential life
  • Assist other staff at the front desk and with the arrival, orientation, and departure process as required 
  • Be an active member of the emergency response team during shift times and after hours
  • Flexible working hours being mainly Monday-Friday with the occasional weekend and evening shifts
  • Have a keen eye for creative content and able to assist in the management of the Student One social media accounts

  • A passion and an ability to connect with students and young adults, acknowledging, understanding and where possible assisting the management of the pressures affecting them

 

Preferred Qualifications and Experiences

  • An undergraduate or equivalent qualification in Events Management or Hospitality
  • Demonstrated experience in event management, including budgets, planning, and implementation
  • Hold a current QLD Government issued blue card
  • Current First Aid & Mental Health First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
  • Positive Police Check
  • Positive Pre-Employment Medical 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience in database management systems (preferably StarRez or equivalent)
  • Able to prioritise, multitask, and keep organised within demanding times, holding a professional standard of customer service at all times
  • Experience using Canva and Eventbrite
