The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking full-time Chef2 (Rover) to join our hotel services team at Coorparoo, QLD. Reporting to, and working closely with the Head Chef, this role will be responsible for providing assistance to the Head Chef in the service of resident’s catering requirements, primarily through meal preparation, stock rotation and dishes. The Chef also provides supervision to Catering Assistants, Cook/s, and assists the Head Chef/s in the running of the back of house concession kitchen.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare meal & beverages for residents in accordance with Vacenti approved menu.
  • Carry out basic meal preparation, i.e., washing, peeling, dicing, cutting, grilling, roasting, and baking.
  • Provide basic food & beverage service as required.
  • Receiving deliveries from suppliers
  • Assist with the setup & pack up of catering events.
  • Clearing waste & general cleaning including but not limited to crockery, cutlery, service utensils, kitchen surfaces according to hygiene standards.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed.
  • Operating machinery, such as mixers and blenders.
  • Assist in the managing and organising of inventory, in the storeroom and fridge, or where directed.
  • Control & minimise waste.
  • Ensuring Caterers and Chefs have the tools, food, and equipment they need.
  • Assist Chef/s & Head Chef/s in the supervision of Catering Assistants.
  • Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.


To be successful in this position you will need:

  • A reliable car and willing to drive across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in similar roles.
  • Reasonable level of spoken and written English literacy skills.
  • A personal philosophy of honesty and integrity, and practical approach that is compatible with the Vacenti values.
  • A positive team-based attitude.
  • Have initiative and work independently.
  • To work in a busy environment and has good time management skills.
  • Very high attention to detail
  • A commitment to safe work practises.
  • Willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and learn and cross train.
  • Relevant qualifications in meal preparation, and food safety.
  • To be considered for this opportunity you must have the right to live and work in Australia. If you are successful, you will be required to obtain a national police clearance prior to commencement.
