Roles and Responsibilities

Job Search Support:

  • Provide personalized assistance to individuals on an active caseload to facilitate a successful job search.
  • Conduct group or individual meetings, either in-person or virtually, to develop tailored employment action plans.
  • Assist clients in preparing job search tools, including resumes, applications, interview techniques, and provide coaching on education and training options.
  • Support clients with referrals and access to various services such as education, training, workforce development, and mentorship.
  • Utilize funder and internal case management systems to track clients, conduct follow-ups, and meet case management requirements.

Documentation and Coordination:

  • Maintain thorough case notes and document client engagement, tracking progress based on individualized Employment Action Plans (EAP).
  • Conduct one-on-one or group orientation sessions and workshops to inform clients about Achev programs and services.
  • Assist in coordinating site and community events aligned with the Employment Service Model mandate.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide administrative support to peers in handling client inquiries and resource information within the Employment Service delivery model.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with community partners, clients, and others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain an organized and productive work environment and manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work on-site and/or remotely as per policies and environmental contexts.

Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of Employment Services.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an Employment Specialist role, with expertise in facilitation, training, case management, and coaching in the employment/career services sector.
  • Completion of a postgraduate diploma in Career and Work Counselling or a degree/diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • In-depth understanding of community resources and the local labor market.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with Case Management System (EOIS CaMS) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of job search strategies, current employment trends, labor market information, and appropriate workplace behaviors.
  • Experience coordinating events such as job fairs, guest speaker sessions, and special events.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada, or other specialized needs groups.
  • Strong team collaboration, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Goal-oriented, highly organized, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and processes in a continuously improving and changing work environment.
