About the Position: 
This position requires attention to detail, an understanding of production flow, and a willingness to learn and follow proper techniques.

The successful candidate must:
  • Have at least 1 year of experience hands-on with sandblasting (Glass bead cabinet experience is not applicable). 
  • Be familiar with SSPC / NACE surface cleanliness standards.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of safety and cleanliness when handling blasted material and blasting equipment. 
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Willing to learn new application techniques and processes in the sandblasting work center.
  • Understand and demonstrate experience consistent with Aegis’ core values. 

Sandblasting Assistant Duties:
  • Prepare parts for blasting according to work order (degreasing, masking)
  • Stage parts on blast carts and move carts in and out of the blast booth using a forklift.
  • Inspect parts and identify concerns before blasting (i.e. broken item, grease, paint, etc.) 
  • Inspect parts after blasting and confirm that blasted parts meet the required SSPC standard.
  • Rack and prep parts for coating.
  • Assist with media reclaim (sweeping media and circulating it).
  • Assist with other shop duties as assigned (packing, sanding, etc.).

Sandblaster Duties:
  • Blast customer goods as per work order to SSPC/NACE standards.
  • Safety Inspections of equipment, overseen or completed on own.
  • Maintain communication with the Blast Assistant.
  • Basic equipment maintenance (nozzle and hose replacement, troubleshooting pot blockages, replacing coupler. seals, familiar with nozzle gauge and air pressure gauge).
  • Manage compressor usage (turn off variable when not blasting).

Qualifications:
  • Capable of reading and writing in English.
  • Prior Sandblasting experience required (min 1 year).
  • Able to safely lift to 50lbs.
  • Actively engage in problem-solving, not problem naming.
  • Effective at time management.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow a process to completion.
  • Prior forklift experience.
