The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 graduate required
  • Certificate of Qualification for the Province of Ontario as a licensed Plumber required
  • Membership in the College of Trades preferred

Skill, Ability and Experience:

  • Five (5) years recent related experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand technical maintenance manuals and drawings required
  • Ability to handle constant walking, standing, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling required
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal and organizational skills required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team required
  • Personal transportation required to provide service response to both Bluewater Health sites
  • Knowledge and commitment to Preventative Maintenance, Customer Service and Quality Improvement required

Principal Duties:

  • Troubleshoot and repair all Hospital plumbing/heating equipment including Programmed preventative Maintenance and installation of new equipment
  • Address and complete Work Orders for repairs to all plumbing/heating equipment and installation of new equipment
  • Address and complete any other related work orders as assigned
  • Maintain good communication with hospital staff in order to determine repairs and work required
  • Report findings to Manager through work order reporting system or directly as required
  • Provide response-based maintenance service to all departments and patient areas
  • Clean shops and tools
  • Observe and practice all safety rules and regulations associated with the Hospital environment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
