The Opportunity
The City of Grande Prairie is hiring a Digital Content Creator to create video, photo, and audio content that promotes the City of Grande Prairie through informational and storytelling lenses.
As the the Digital Content Creator, you will collaborate closely with graphic designers, marketing and communications strategists, and others across the organization to create quality media that supports Council's Strategic Priorities. This position reports to the Director Corporate Marketing and interfaces with virtually all City departments including Mayor and Council.

Responsibilities

Produce high-quality video from start to finish using prosumer A/V equipment.

Understand and edit for various subject types including training, informational, events, promotional, and others.

Understand and edit for various media types including traditional video and photos, social media, websites, and others.

Capture engaging video and photos of landscapes, City facilities, sporting events, public events, and more that follow City of Grande Prairie brand standards.

Collaborate on producing vlog-style videos and voiceovers.

Present well-thought-out creative ideas for digital media projects that support Council's Strategic Priorities.

Manage digital media projects, estimating the required resources and timelines.

Develop scripts and storyboards in collaboration with the Corporate Marketing and Corporate Communications teams, conduct interviews, and direct the subject/cast/crew.

Ensure all media is fully compliant with copyright and privacy legislation.

Produce graphics and other digital assets to support and enhance internal projects and coordinate with Graphic Design to implement design assets into produced material.

Be willing to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays.

Develop cross-functional skills within our team to assist with digital media production.
You Bring
Education and Professional Experience
-
3 years of experience with video production and photography in a professional capacity.

Experience managing successful projects and coordinating with others toward a shared vision.

A current portfolio that reflects your creative ability, technical skill, and professionalism.

Scriptwriting, storyboarding, and directing experience is an asset.
-
Creative agency or studio experience is an asset.

Photography, videography, and production techniques.

Audio production techniques.
-
Scriptwriting, storyboarding and directing.

Knowledge of Canadian copyright and privacy legislation, model consent, and release requirements.

Production of video subtitles and audio descriptions.

Illustration and animation skills are an asset.
Software and Technical Skills

Fully experienced with photography and video equipment including SLR and mirrorless cameras, lighting, tripods, 360 camera, drones, wireless mics, teleprompters, audio equipment.

Proficient with Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Experience with other Adobe Creative Cloud products is an asset.

Location
Main location is City Hall, but locations can vary on a day-to-day basis throughout Grande Prairie.
Hours
35 hours per week. Core hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and are flexible with evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required.
Salary/Wage
$35.40 (D Band) per hour.
