General Labourer (Rope Splicer &* Machine Operator)*

CMP Group Ltd., a leading provider of Marine Products, Construction, and Industrial solutions is seeking a Machine Operator (Rope Splicer) for the Trenton team/location on a full-time permanent basis; the Trenton location specializes in marine cordage and rope products.

Purpose of Job:

• The Rope Splicer / Machine Operator would be responsible for safe practices throughout the facility regarding areas that they are working in.
• This individual will be an integral part of the processing of strand and plaited rope to final product, as well as running machines when splicing is not required.
• Open communication with teams and internal departments to ensure production and inventory levels are accurate and advise of any issues that may impact quality, timing or safety.
• Opens and completes work orders, documents production, and performs quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment proficiently to meet daily production goals when assigned or exceeds cycle times per work orders
• Splicing of eyes in ropes (3 strand or double braid rope) and splicing of rope to chain (both 3 strand and 8 plait)
• Cutting of rope and chain as well as installation of other key components into product
• Set up and operate machinery as required for production
• Troubleshoot, inspect tooling using applicable tools and measuring devices
• Lifting as required
• Maintain tools and supplies in good working order
• Maintain work area in a clean state and free from obstructions
• Report non-conformance of all production
• Cross Training for various tasks within the facility and participate in training as required by company or Production Manager
• Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions are followed at all times
• Promote safe work practices as outlined in the Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Adhere to all company safety SOP and equipment safety features
• Strive for Zero-time lost accidents
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 1-3 years of rope splicing experience
• 1-3 years of machine operation experience in the manufacturing industry
• 1-3 years of experience operating a chain cutter or hand/power tools
• 1-3 years of experience operating and setting up of twister, bobbin winder and braider production equipment
• 1-3 years of experience in troubleshooting and tooling inspection using applicable tools and measuring devices
• Comfortable using a cutting tool, standing for a long period of time and operating fast moving parts
• Comfortable receiving training on rope splicing and machine operation
• Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs.
• Willingness to assist by work in other departments within the facility when required
• Good dexterity of the hands to perform various types of splicing
• Good communication, interpersonal and basic maths skills
• Open to quality cross-training and 6s training
• Safety boots

Hours

• Monday to Friday
• Day shift – 7: 30 AM to 4 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
