About the Organization
Engaging Young People in Policy-Making around End-of-Life Care is focused on understanding the perspectives and experiences of young people (i.e., children and youth) in Canada, along with their parents/caregivers, on end-of-life care (including pediatric palliative care and medical assistance in dying). The project is funded by Health Canada’s Health Care Policy and Strategies Program.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for project team organization, data management and budget management. The Research Coordinator will also contribute to participant recruitment, data generation & analysis, as well as knowledge mobilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage study protocol like submitting and monitoring ethics approvals; organizing team and partner meetings.
- Assist with participant recruitment, data generation, analysis, knowledge mobilization.
- Complete performance measurements.
- Manage budget processes e.g., creating monthly reports, anticipating spending activities.
- Handle communications and data organization.
- Manage purchasing process, remuneration and reimbursements as well as organize travel.
Note
The successful applicant will primarily work remotely, with occasional presence in-person on-campus to meet client needs and operation requirements.
Local and regional travel is required to participate in project management meetings (occasional; 1-2 times per year). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a health, bioethics, sociology or related field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience coordinating or being a member of a qualitative or mixed method research project in the health or social sciences field.
- Graduate-level preparation in qualitative or mixed methodologies in applied health research.
- Experience in qualitative data analysis using qualitative software (e.g., NVivo).
- Experience managing multi-site research projects.
- Excellent coordination, organization, and team building skills.
- Must have completed or be able to complete the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans certification.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Internet, Databases for searches such as MEDLINE, Embase, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to meet project timelines and achieve project objectives.
- Excellent research synthesis skills in literature reviews, report writing, and knowledge translation of research results into plain language materials for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated skills in budget management.
- Experience in preparing ethics applications and renewals.
Assets
- Bilingual in English and French.
- Demonstrated experience completing research with children and youth.
- Experience publishing journal articles, book chapters, and other reports for professional and lay knowledge users.
