About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Fire Department Technical Clerk based in Lake Country, BC.

Under the Direction of the Fire Chief or designate(s), the Fire Department Technical Clerk is responsible for providing clerical, technical administrative and research support and assistance to the management team and key staff. Additionally, Fire Department Technical Clerk will provide technical clerical support to fire department related occupational health and safety, recruitment and training, fire prevention and emergency management programs, and fixed operations.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
  • Interpret and answer all public and internal inquiries with a focus on fire department related matters;
  • Coordinate a range of functions related to special events and meetings, including scheduling, preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes;
  • Under the direction of the Fire Chief or designate(s), and in consultation with the Finance Department, prepare accurate payroll for Paid-on-Call Firefighters and provide regular payroll reports;
  • Under the direction of the Fire Chief or designate(s), and in consultation with the Finance Department, prepare accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable and provide regular budget reports;
  • Under the direction of the Fire Chief or designate(s), and in consultation with the Corporate Services, manage fire department records and provide regular statistical reports.


More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in local government, or similar organization. Additionally, two years of education towards a diploma or degree in financial accounting, business administration, computer technology or related field is required, along with having a valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license.

About the Benefits

  • You will receive a competitive salary of $32.62 an hour per hour (2023 wage rate); increase as of April 1, 2024 to $33.43; A probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
