Is responsible for performing janitorial tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner, with due consideration for residents.
Performs nightly rounds to maintain building security.
BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standards.
Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting and withstand long periods of standing.
Some experience in a hospitality and/or housekeeping department is desirable.
Possesses a pleasant, outgoing personality.
At least two years housekeeping experience. Knowledge of WHMIS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs daily and weekly cleaning of all common areas, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Cleans staff room and common areas according to established procedures and schedules, as required.
Launders dining room linens.
Provides general assistance to residents as required.
Maintains security of the building by conducting regular rounds and ensuring that access is denied to unauthorized persons.
Follows weekly cleaning schedule as required including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying garbage, etc.
Respond to emergency call system, as required.
Assists the night Resident Attendant staff with any emergency situations related to residents.
Participates in safety standards of the residence, including Fire Prevention, Pest control, Continuous Quality Improvement, Occupational Health and Safety, and Infection Control programs as required.
Does not give out unqualified information and handles all matters in a confidential manner.
Maintains effective communication with residents, families, staff and community members, using appropriate lines of communication.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
