THE POSITION
Entegrus Powerlines Inc., a progressive company dedicated to providing the highest level of service and a safe and positive work environment, requires a Data Scientist. This on-site position will be based at our Chatham office and report directly to the Director of Asset Management & System Modernization.

Entegrus brings electricity, renewable energy and water services to approximately 62,000 customers in southwestern Ontario, while keeping safety, reliability and efficiency top of mind. Entegrus is owned by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, the City of St. Thomas, and Corix Energy Inc., and is made up of four subsidiary companies (Entegrus Services Inc., Entegrus Transmission Inc., Entegrus Renewable Energy Inc., Entegrus Powerlines Inc.) each with a role in providing the best possible value and service for our customers.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The Data Scientist will spearhead the development and deployment of traditional analytic and predictive models within the utility’s secure environment. The Data Scientist will leverage sensitive internal data to create solutions and capabilities that drive operational efficiency and innovation across operational and administrative functions. The Data Scientist will identify patterns, predict outcomes, and propose and utilize data-driven capabilities (or analytics) and strategies that align with the objectives of the company, while ensuring adherence to data privacy and security.
DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum of a Master's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in data science or a related field in a corporate environment, with a proven track record of developing and implementing analytical and predictive modeling solutions. Experience in the utility sector is an asset.
Knowledge: (1) Advanced expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis. (2) Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala. Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark). (3) Understanding of data privacy and security principles. (4) Knowledge of electric utility operations is an asset.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively. Leadership skills to drive AI initiatives and mentor team members
Other: Must possess a valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License and an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The typical work environment is a busy office environment. Travel to training and conferences and other offices may be required.
The enhancement of data structures and the design of AI algorithms and predictive models, as well as adherence to regulatory and ethical standards, will require strong judgement and decision-making in consultation with the Director.
