Lab Technician

This is an hourly position where you will be responsible for performing all operations required to plan, set up, conduct, and document complex tests and analyses in a laboratory setting to ensure the quality and performance of materials and products according to specified standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Planning and Execution:
• Receive assignments, including drawings and verbal instructions.
• Review technical data, secure interpretations, and use technical manuals to supplement data.
• Plan and prepare Laboratory test setups.
• Perform complex tests using hand and machine tools and Laboratory equipment.

Testing and Measurement:

• Lay out complex parts and conduct testing procedures.
• Set up test equipment and select appropriate recording and measuring instruments.
• Record test data, prepare test reports, and discuss findings with relevant employees.
• Accept or reject tested material based on gathered data.

Material Analysis:

• Perform material analysis of metals, fluids, and non-metallic materials.
• Conduct tests for qualification and retesting for shelf-life issues.

Chemical Supply Maintenance:

• Maintain chemical supplies, including limited life adhesives and sealants.
• Control chemical processing tanks and perform water testing and de-ionizing operations.

Technical Support:

• Assist and direct other employees performing less complex work.
• Perform other related duties as required by the company.

Qualifications:

• Education: Equivalent to high school diploma plus 2 years College/University in a related discipline or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory or similar setting.

Skills:

• Proficiency in devising test setups and interpreting test results.
• Knowledge of the working characteristics of metal, fiberglass, and plastics.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications.
• Experience in compiling test data and documenting results.
