The Electrician will work as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. This individual will have the ability to recognize, read, interpret, and review electrical blueprints and specifications in order to provide troubleshooting and repair services. The Electrician A will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization
Work and dress safely (i.e. wear proper protective equipment, demonstrate safe use of all machinery and equipment, etc.)
- Adhere to all relevant company policies, procedures and instructions
- Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, presses and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blue prints, using hand tools and voltage tester.
- Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures.
- Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors and position sensing devices.
- May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in building
- May push buttons and press keys on robot controller, teach pendant and programmable controller to program automated machinery such as robots.
- Other duties as assigned.
Red Seal Certificate of Qualification for Electrician
- Possess a current Provincial Electrician license
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures
- Self-starter, with developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Computer literate
- Adhere to requests from supervisors, lead hands
- Prioritize and perform work with minimal supervision
- Complete tasks efficiently and timely
- Must be able to trouble shoot stamping press transfer systems
- Capability to recognize and understand electrical blue prints and PLC ladder diagrams
- Ability to interpret P.L.C. logic as required
- Must be able to work 3 shift operation (Midnights, Afternoons, Days)
