Paint Foreman

Foremost has an opening for a full-time Paint Foreman for our Grande Prairie facility located in Hythe, Alberta. This position has the responsibility of the day-to-day operation of the painting facilities. Scope includes blasting, coating and painting fabricated product, supervision of direct reports, care and condition of facilities and equipment, and cooperation/collaboration with other shifts and departments.

Responsibilities:

• Assign work and ensure quality and completion of the assigned tasks
• Conform to quality control standards and construction specifications based on drawings, sketches, layout boards, verbal instructions, etc.
• Operate and service all equipment associated with painting, insulating and sandblasting (hand-held spray equipment)
• Train new hires with Safe Operating Procedures and Practices and ensure their compliance
• Instruct apprentices in their trade specific procedures, use and service of equipment associated with painting, insulating and sandblasting
• Ensure compliance with all WHMIS and environmental regulations regarding the storage, use and disposal of hazardous chemicals
• Apply resins, solvent drying paints, and blasting materials to fabricated products
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Industrial Painter trade certification or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years in the painting, coating and insulating field
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
• Knowledge of tank, vessel and pipe coating
• Excellent communication skills including conflict management
• The ability to lead and motivate staff
