Maintenance Technician II

Reports To

Maintenance Manager

Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician II is responsible for renovations, restorations, remodeling, and environmental remediation procedures. The Maintenance Technician II is also responsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the properties, ensuring a safe and secure living environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

The Maintenance Technician II will carry out all aspects of maintenance responsibilities, including preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance, to enhance and preserve the property's value, while adhering to Forthright’s Policies and standards.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for renovations, restorations, remodeling, and environmental remediation procedures, ensuring compliance with all safety and building codes, while meeting deadlines, quality, and budget requirements.

· Responsible for overseeing external contractors ensuring Forthright’s standards are met.

· Routine and scheduled maintenance tasks across multiple properties.

· Painting, carpentry, and plumbing duties with an emphasis on quality and durability.

· Ensure properties are clean, well-maintained, and meet safety standards.

· Manage and allocate project inventory and supplies.

· Ensure safety systems such as fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, and emergency exits meet safety requirements.

· Recommend, estimate, schedule, and oversee renovations.

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to Forthright’s procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Collaborate with, and cross-train all Maintenance Technician team members as required.

· Assist in the development of SOPs, Policies, and training materials as required.

· Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify areas needing attention.

Skills & Abilities

· Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and building specifications.

· Excellent supervisory skills.

· Project management experience.

· Excellent understanding of Manitoba safety regulations and practices.

· Excellent customer service and professionalism.

· Advanced ability to independently troubleshoot and problem solve.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/manoeuvre 50 pounds without assistance.

· Comfortable working in various weather conditions.

· Comfortable working at heights and/or confined spaces.

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Intermediate command of the English language.

· Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Technician or Handy-Person in a residential or hospitality setting with a focus on renovation and restoration projects.

· Proficiency using hand and power tools, as well as an intermediate understanding of building mechanical systems, plumbing and carpentry.

· Experience using computer systems including Microsoft Office programs, work order programs.

· Availability to work evenings and weekends, as required.

· Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly.

· Possess a valid, unrestricted, and clear Manitoba driver's license.
