PROFILE
We are currently recruiting for a Systems Analyst who is energetic, detail oriented and highly organized to join our fast-paced IT team. This position will be responsible for administering aspects of the local area networks, storage, servers, support, and for analysis, design, maintenance and security with respect to all aspects of the Canada wide IT infrastructure.
As a key member of the Information Technology Infrastructure Operation’s team and working with existing Team Members, the Systems Analyst position is responsible for national Information Technology (IT) telecommunications and Storage solutions for all Canadian offices and is very diverse in the areas of responsibility. Working closely with Manager Infrastructure Operations Canada, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery and design of the Canadian telecommunications & storage operations and work on day-to-day issues, including hands-on delivery and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Initial set-up and monitoring of network shared directories
-
Deploy, maintain, and monitor Internet links, Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), SDWAN distributed within Gowling WLG Canada in conjunction with service providers.

Assist with the implementation of standard processes and procedures to support Canada wide operations.
-
Monitor and maintain office networks, storage and other system accounts, including performing daily, weekly and monthly checks on the infrastructure, i.e. network security and technical problems, monitoring disk space, memory, percentage utilization, servers, in accordance with the Firm’s policies and procedures.

Recommend hardware and software upgrades and make recommendations regarding network growth, including preparing and conducting software deployment and update network utilities/software ensuring patches, files etc. are current.

Schedule all maintenance and ensure users are given suitable notice.

Update all infrastructure utilities/software ensuring patches, files etc. are current.

Maintain and update infrastructure documentation for Firm systems
-
Assist in monitoring and maintaining remote communications, wide-area facilities, Backup, cloud, and e-mail services.

Participate in and/or lead IT projects; assist in the managing of projects including, creation of project charters, scope and deliverables, estimation of effort, costs and resources, scheduling, and communications.

Provide 3rd level user support on a priority basis, including Service Desk and technical support services with other members of the IT team

Participate in an On Call rotation for 24/7 infrastructure support

Any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in information technology or diploma of collegial studies in computer science/networking or security or relevant experience.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner

CCNA or CCNP certification with experience.

Excellent knowledge of the various routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
-
Possess strong planning, analytical, and conceptual skills.

Knowledge of scripting, desktop management tools, and email systems would be an asset.

Knowledge of Cisco network hardware, NetApp storage, Microsoft Windows Server OS’s, Cisco Server hardware, and VMware virtual environments.

Ability to handle confidential information and use good judgment.

Flexibility to provide after hours support is required. Travel to other offices and the data centre is a possibility

Knowledge of legal industry and technology, an asset.
