Blessed Sacrament Parish in Kitchener is looking for a part time Music Minister. Reporting to the Parish Priest, this position offers a competitive rate of pay and benefits package.
Weekday hours: 12 hours/8 hours in July August.
Weekend hours: 7 hours
Proficiency in both organ and piano playing, leadership, teamwork, and computer skills (Microsoft Office applications).
Sunday Masses at 8:15 am, 10 am, 11:45 am, and Saturday at 7 pm (one hour plus 30 minutes of practice before each liturgy). Totaling 6 hours.
Baptisms: 1 per month, approximately 1 hour each (10 per year).
Twice a week, 2 hours each, rehearsal with cantors and soloists, either vocal or instrumental.
Picking and scheduling service music and hymns, set-up, and take-down around Masses.
Writing schedules, hymn number boards, and hymn introduction sentences.
Attending staff meetings, coordinating with the priest, and supervising special task employees.
Recruiting new cantors and choir members, including volunteer screening requirements.
Arranging piano and organ tuners.
Planning choir music, preparing melody and instrumental copies, maintaining the library, and scheduling music.
Making audio files for cantors of responsorial psalms.
Music Director’s practice time.
Learning and practicing music for service playing and choir accompaniment.
Practicing ensemble music with other instrumentalists.
Browsing and selecting music based on instrumentalists' technical abilities.
Parish masses on All Saints, Souls, Christmas, Jan 1, Ash Wednesday, Triduum, Confirmation, and First Communion.
School Masses in September, December, Easter, and June for 3 schools.
Accompaniment at Weekday morning Masses at Solemnities and special occasions like penitential services.
