JNE is currently looking for a full time Quality Control Inspector. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and will be responsible for performing QMS, code, regulatory, and project specification inspections, to ensure project compliance during fabrication. Other responsibilities will include performing various quality control activities such as inspecting materials, processes, and products, as well as reviewing and completing project quality documentation to guarantee that quality objectives are being met.
Position Responsibilities:
- Communicating client’s quality requirements with production and supporting personnel.
- Continually monitoring work-in-progress by verifying and ensuring that all shop activities comply with the quality requirements of codes and standards.
- Identifying, reporting, and tracking non-conformances and customer complaints in compliance with industry standards.
- Providing appropriate feedback to management regarding quality matters.
- Assisting with quality incident investigations and preparing incident reports.
- Reviewing drawings to ensure appropriate WPS are referenced with weld details and overall accuracy.
- Inspecting procured materials, reviewing material certification, and verifying traceability, prior to delivery to fabrication shop as required.
- Performing quality inspections (Visual, NDE, Dimensional, PWHT, Hydrostatic, Marking, Shipping, etc.) at all phases of the project.
- Generating, maintaining, and tracking of weld and NDE mapping, as well as inspection reports.
- Coordinating quality control inspections and tests performed by contractors and third-party testing agencies.
- Maintaining calibration records of quality control equipment.
- Expediting project quality control documentation and ensuring the transfer of required quality information is done in an effective and timely manner.
- Conducting quality orientation for new workers and providing quality assurance training to employees.
- Supporting the quality team as well as others, in the production and review of quality deliverables.
- Maintaining a high level of understanding of company standards and guidelines.
- Performing any other quality assurance/quality control assigned tasks/duties.

- Strong data analysis skills to be used to analyze reports and identify/assess gaps, to support continuous improvement.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and lift 50 lbs at one time.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
- Must be adaptable to the changing needs of the department by being flexible to work a nightshift or weekend shift.
Education and Experience:
- Strong understanding of quality inspection methods, tools, and equipment.
- Previous experience with reading and understanding blueprints.
- 3 to 5 years of work experience with quality assurance systems, regulations, guidelines, and standards would be considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Engineering or Science would be considered an asset.
- Shop or field related work experience in the construction and metal fabrication sector would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME, API, and CSA codes and standards would be considered an asset.
- Certifications or courses in any, or all the following would be considered an asset: Lean, Six Sigma, CWB Weld Inspection, and Non-Destructive Examination Techniques.
