Proudly Canadian, this 60-year old manufacturer of critical automotive safety components requires a new leader for its small, in-house team of Designers, Tool Makers, and Machinists. This Team was formed years ago to design, build, and commission automation cells in the company's factories and, after decades of service, the incumbent Team Leader will retire this year. The new Leader will inherit a deeply experienced team and introduce, when appropriate, modern processes, techniques, and technologies to augment the "old stand tried & true dependables". Working closely with Corporate Engineering, Program Managers, and Plant Managers, the Business Unit Manager will identify opportunities to introduce automated solutions that improve productivity, quality, and cost.
Our ideal candidate is an accomplished Engineering Manager or small automation company's Operations / General Manager, who can bring solid experiences designing and commissioning automated work cells covering technologies from pick & place, to welding, to mechanical assembly, and associated tooling and fixtures. A solid understanding of general manufacturing constraints will set you up to sponsor and cost justify capital investments with ROI data. Personal expertise should cover the range of defining hydraulics & pneumatics system requirements, practical appreciation of plant layout, and a creative ability to work with Plant Managers & Corporate Process Engineers to apply automated enhancements to existing stamping, welding, and assembly production processes. SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills, and familiarity with ABB robots and Allen Bradley PLCs, will round out our ideal candidate's profile.
