POSITION SUMMARY
The Client Services Life Representative processes applications for existing groups and changes for members. The incumbent will handle client queries and correspondence, follow up on past due accounts for life groups, ensure that all Life administration and billing procedures are properly followed and production standards are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in reviewing/processing daily and monthly underwriting reports.
  • Prepares letters requesting medical evidence.
  • Requests medical information (Paramedicals, Attending physician statements etc.).
  • Assists in actioning decisions from the medical underwriter.
  • Assists in entering medical underwriting decisions.
  • Manages requests from Life Client Admin Reps for removing codes.
  • Processes manual updates to special classes in CAS.
  • Assists in tracking case progress and activity in Excel.
  • Prepares form letters to clients regarding medical underwriting decisions.
  • Reviews annually all claimants at EI index adjustment.
  • Updates take over amounts on new groups.
  • Maintains the medical underwriting procedures (Confluence).
  • Ensures medical underwriting documentation is maintained in a secure and confidential manner.
  • Processes group life, health and dental applications, changes, and terminations on the system, ensuring all enrollment procedures are properly followed and production standards are met.
  • Processes and maintains client pre-authorized debit and members’ direct deposit information.
  • Forwards COB information to appropriate department.
  • Maintains the life enrollment procedures in Confluence.
  • Ensures life documentation is maintained in a secure and confidential manner.
  • Maintains Disability log and waiver of premium spreadsheets.
  • Attends and participates in meetings.
  • Identifies opportunities for process efficiency improvements and recommends process changes.
  • Provide backup to all Client Services Support roles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed some post-secondary education. An equivalent combination of education and 1-2 years’ experience in an office environment may be considered.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous administrative experience an asset.
  • Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service, committed to responding to, anticipating, and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with all levels within the organization in a team environment and external customers.
  • Self-directed, with exceptional organizational skills and a proven record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks within varied and dynamic timelines on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, assess, and provide options and make recommendations on matters of procedure and policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of office productivity tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and various reporting and database applications.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capable of completing industry education programs entailing self-directed study and the writing of graded examinations. Specific programs include but are not limited to LOMA, CEBS, and ICA. Discipline-specific study may be required in areas such as accounting, credit management, communication, etc. Enrollment in, and completion of, such courses will be encouraged.
